Bids in hours, not weeks
Median first bid arrives in 34 minutes. Most projects collect 3–5 competitive bids in under 48 hours, which means you can stop chasing quotes by phone.
About BidWolf
BidWolf is a trust-first home improvement marketplace. We connect homeowners with verified local contractors through sealed bids, on-site walkthroughs, milestone-based payments, and a public Trust Score that shows you exactly who you are about to hire — and what their last twenty projects actually looked like.
Our mission
Home improvement is one of the largest unregulated consumer markets in America. Homeowners collectively spend over $500 billion per year on remodels, repairs, and recurring service — and an astonishing share of that money ends up burned in disputes, abandoned projects, or work that has to be redone by a second contractor.
The cause is structural, not personal. Most lead-generation platforms make their money by reselling a homeowner's phone number to four contractors simultaneously, which turns the whole experience into a race-to-the-bottom price war that rewards the fastest-typing salesperson, not the best-equipped pro. BidWolf was built to break that cycle.
We charge zero lead fees. We never resell contact information. We make trust visible instead of hidden. And we structure payment around finished work instead of upfront deposits, so the incentives line up for everyone in the room.
How BidWolf is different
Every feature on BidWolf comes back to one of these three. They are the reasons we built our own platform instead of slapping a coat of paint on the existing lead-resale model.
Contractors submit blind bids — they cannot see each other's prices, so the first number you see is the real number. No race to the bottom, no padded leads, no surprise add-ons.
Honest first quotes
Every contractor is graded D through A+ on five pillars: licenses, insurance, project history, reliability, and verified reviews. The score is visible before you ever click a profile.
Verification you can see
Money releases milestone by milestone, with required photo proof and homeowner approval at every step. No $10k-deposit-then-disappear stories.
Pay only for finished work
For homeowners
Post your project in under three minutes. Get verified bids from licensed local contractors with public Trust Scores, then schedule on-site walkthroughs and approve payment milestone by milestone — all from a single dashboard.
Median first bid arrives in 34 minutes. Most projects collect 3–5 competitive bids in under 48 hours, which means you can stop chasing quotes by phone.
Schedule on-site walkthroughs with multiple contractors in one place. No more calendar Tetris, no more I'll-text-you-to-confirm that never lands.
Bids, photos, change orders, payment milestones, and chat all live on a single project page. Your kitchen remodel is no longer a Gmail archaeology project.
Reviews on BidWolf can only be posted by homeowners who actually hired and paid a contractor through the platform. No fake five-stars, no scrubbed one-stars.
For contractors
BidWolf does not auction your lead to your competitors. Build a Trust Score, stack real reviews from paying customers, and own a profile that follows you for your entire career.
BidWolf does not sell homeowner contact information to four different pros for $80 a pop. Submit a real bid on a real project and you compete on quality, not click speed.
Your verified licenses, insurance certificates, completed jobs, and homeowner reviews live in one profile that you actually own. Build a reputation the algorithm cannot demote.
Stop floating thousands of dollars in materials between progress payments. Submit photo proof, get approved, get paid — the cycle takes hours, not weeks.
Bid from the truck, log photos from the jobsite, send change orders from a customer's kitchen. Native iOS and Android apps with offline capture and auto-sync.
Trust & safety
The BidWolf Trust Score is built on five publicly documented pillars. Each pillar is weighted and scored automatically, and the breakdown is visible on every contractor profile. Homeowners can drill into the math — there is no proprietary "black box" here.
Active license checks against TSBPE, TDLR, and other Texas state databases. Insurance certificate validation including general liability and workers' comp where applicable.
Number of completed milestones, share of approved-without-dispute work, and total verified jobs on the platform.
Walkthrough attendance rate, on-time milestone delivery, response time to homeowner messages, and change-order frequency.
Star rating from verified homeowners who actually hired and paid the contractor through BidWolf. Reviews from outside the platform do not count.
Peer recommendations from other verified pros, weighted by the endorser's own Trust Score. Self-endorsements and reciprocal-only endorsements are filtered out.
Our story
BidWolf was founded by Devin Tripp, a Texas-based software engineer who watched too many friends and family members get burned by deposit-and-disappear contractor experiences. He built BidWolf as a one-person engineering team in Dallas–Fort Worth and still ships product every week.
The project is bootstrapped, not venture-funded — which means we answer to the homeowners and contractors who use BidWolf, not to a roadmap deck written for the next funding round.
2023
Founder Devin Tripp watches a close family member lose $14,000 to a contractor who took a deposit, framed half a deck, and stopped returning calls. The lemons-market problem in home improvement becomes personal.
Early 2024
Built nights and weekends in Dallas–Fort Worth. The first version was just a sealed-bid form, a Firestore database, and a Stripe integration. Local contractors and homeowners agree to test it.
Late 2024
After the third "but how do I know this person is real?" question from a homeowner, we shipped the public Trust Score system — automated license lookups, insurance verification, and a transparent grading rubric.
2025
Added walkthrough scheduling so homeowners and contractors can meet on-site before committing, milestone-based payment structure for one-time projects, and recurring contracts for lawn, pool, and HVAC service.
Today
A small team, a tight feedback loop with the homeowners and pros who use BidWolf every day, and a deliberate refusal to become another lead-resale platform.
What we believe
Every feature gets evaluated against one question: does this make the next interaction more trustworthy? If it does not, it does not ship.
A platform that screws contractors to please homeowners (or vice versa) collapses within two years. BidWolf is designed for repeat use by both sides.
We will never describe a kitchen remodel as a "scope-of-work synergy enablement opportunity." If you cannot explain a feature to your grandmother, the feature is not ready.
A real homeowner using a 95% feature today beats a perfect roadmap deck next quarter. We ship weekly and adjust based on what real users tell us.
Where we operate
BidWolf currently serves homeowners and licensed contractors across the entire state of Texas. We are deepest in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, with active contractor pools in the cities below. We are expanding to additional Texas markets and the broader U.S. through 2026.

Frequently asked questions
BidWolf was founded by Devin Tripp, a Texas-based software engineer, after watching family and friends get burned by lowest-bidder contractor hires. The platform launched publicly in 2024 after eighteen months of private testing with homeowners and contractors across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.
Yes. Posting a project, receiving bids, scheduling walkthroughs, messaging contractors, and managing milestones is 100% free for homeowners. There is no monthly fee, no per-bid charge, and no hidden lead fee. We do not sell homeowner contact information to contractors — that is not our business model.
Three structural differences. (1) Sealed bidding — contractors submit blind bids without seeing each other's prices, so you get honest first quotes instead of a race-to-the-bottom. (2) Public Trust Score — every pro is graded D through A+ on five documented pillars, visible before you click their profile. (3) Milestone payments — money releases only after photo proof of completed work, so a contractor cannot deposit-and-disappear.
Yes, automatically. Every contractor is run against the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE), Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), Texas Real Estate Commission, and other state databases as applicable. Insurance certificates are validated and re-checked on a recurring basis. Verification status is visible on every contractor profile.
When you accept a bid, the contractor proposes (or auto-generates) a milestone plan — for example, demo, rough plumbing, drywall, paint, final walkthrough. The total contract price is split across milestones. The contractor completes a milestone, submits photos and notes, and you approve the release of just that milestone's payment. Repeat until the project is done.
Because payment is released milestone by milestone, you are only out the value of work that was actually completed and approved. From the project dashboard you can flag the project as stalled, which automatically opens it up to backup bids from other verified contractors and freezes any remaining milestone payments.
Yes. After a project closes, both sides can review each other. Contractor reviews of homeowners are visible to other pros considering future projects from the same homeowner, which protects pros from chronically difficult clients.
BidWolf has native apps for iOS and Android. Both are free. The iOS app is available on the App Store and the Android app is available on Google Play. Search "BidWolf" or use the download links in the site footer.
Post your project for free in under three minutes. Get verified bids in hours. Approve payment milestone by milestone. Hire with evidence, not vibes.
Free for homeowners. Built in Texas. Shipped weekly.
